Why the name "ELE010"?
Wooden Strings ELE010 is named after the gauge of the strings, and most guitar string manufacturers name their string sets in the same way. This means that 010 in the name indicates the gauge of the thinnest string in the set. Guitar strings are measured in inches, and 010 means that the thinnest string is 10/1000 of an inch thick. By comparison, in a set of 0.009 gauge strings, the thinnest string is 9/1000 of an inch thick. The most commonly used gauges for electric guitars range from 0.008 to 0.013.
Which gauge should I choose?
Thin strings have more treble, while thick strings have more bass – the thicker the strings, the fuller the sound. The gauge guitarists choose is highly individual. It depends on personal preference, finger strength, preferred musical genre and playing style.
One very important factor when choosing guitar strings is that the thicker the strings, the harder they are to press down cleanly. Beginners are therefore recommended to start with thin strings, such as these 0.010 gauge strings or, alternatively, 0.009. Once you have played guitar for some time and have a better idea of which playing style and genre you play most, you can start experimenting with different gauges.
