CLA2 are high-tension strings. High tension means that the strings have a greater mass than normal-tension and low-tension strings. The greater mass transfers more energy to the wood of the guitar, particularly the soundboard. This produces greater volume, meaning that your guitar will produce more sound than it would with normal-tension or low-tension strings.
High-tension strings are slightly harder to play because of their greater mass compared with normal-tension and low-tension strings, and their tone has slightly less clarity. Their mass also makes them harder to influence with the fingers in terms of vibrato and dynamics in general.
Which should I choose?
High-tension strings are primarily aimed at the more experienced guitarist who prioritises volume over dynamics. As high-tension strings are harder to press down and more difficult to influence with the fingers, normal-tension strings are recommended for beginners as a good compromise.
