Wooden Strings ACU011 includes six acoustic guitar strings with a hexagonal steel core wound with phosphor bronze wire. The combination of steel and phosphor bronze delivers warm, deep tones with bright treble and long-lasting performance.
The ACU011 designation refers to the gauge of the thinnest string: .011 inches, or 11/1000 of an inch. By comparison, a .010 set has a thinnest string measuring 10/1000 of an inch. Common acoustic guitar string gauges range from .010 to .015. Lighter strings offer more treble and are generally easier to fret, while heavier strings provide more bass and a fuller sound.
As a general guide, heavier strings are well suited to chord playing because of their full tone, while lighter strings are suitable for fingerstyle and lead playing, where their brighter sound makes details easier to hear.
